Philadelphia Wrap Up
Our first trip to Philly was amazing. We never had time to see the Liberty Bell, but we did see tons of talent.
We had an amazing turnout and auditioned thousands. Here's the coverage from the local NBC affilate.
We're still at the Pennsylvania Convention Center tomorrow, Oct 26. Stop thinking about -- just come and see us.
Hello....
Did anyone from Philly get a call back yet?
Are you returning to Philly?
I've noticed that you have scheduled dates for the other cities live shows. Are they NOT coming back to philly?
Philly
For thge most part, the judges will be seeing the acts from Philly that move on to the seconds round in NYC.
just curious
Im starting to think alot of people got screwed during these audition processes, i've read numerous reports about how many of the acts last year already had proffesional experience....obviously b. padilla was better then kevin skinner but im glad he won because he was the only true AMATEUR! I went to the philadelphia auditions and im reading how others had 5 singers in their room and had a camera man in there as well. During my audition there was 10 of us in the room NO CAMERA and only a lap top .... HOW THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO GET MY AUDITION REVIEWED WITH NO CAMERA... the only logical explanation i have in my head is that there was a webcam on the computer but you never know could've easily just jam packed people in the room to hurry the crowds out.....but once again why would others be able to audition infront of a camera but not all...i call foul play and it kind of ticks me off that not every one might not have an equal chance.....DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY ANSWERS TO MY ISSUES?!?!?! And seriously if you want a good show you'll have people real amateur's with no prior semi pro and or pro experience .....must be 18 or older....no kids ...no adult has an equal chance against a child 5 years old its really BS kaitlyn maher sucked ungodly...and also no one cares about a sob story unless the person is good ... in our economy and times right now everyone can have a good sob story so enough with the crappy acts makin it thru......but seriously im on a rant lol but any answers to my questions above?
AMERICAN'S GOT TALENT
I just wanted to thank everyone from the staff from America's got talent for the support and help to get us all on the right track and for getting us there where we need to go. I've been watching this show since the beginning and wasn't ready until now. My name is Jeannie and I wanted to be a singer since I was three years old. It's been a dream of mine for a very long time. I auditioned back in October 25, 2009 at the Philadelphia convention center. I had the time of my life, the news crew came by and made it so much fun. I met som many people and made so many friends that had so great talent. Wow what an experience!! Thanks for giving me this opportunity to show my talent and maybe make it on your show. Good luck to all those who audtioned as well. Keep living the dream and you'll go far..

Philly Audition
Hi you all, I to auditions in Philly and it was a great experience .I met some great people, some who I hope to keep in contact with. I got there about 8:30 AM on Saturday and the line was already pretty long . My number was 5020223 I not sure how the number represented your place in line but they seemed to use our last three digits in our group a lot. While we were in line outside the Building some people were practicing their acts. It was really cool to watch. A man in front of me his name was Anthony Reilly , he sang Motown music and he was quite good. He told me he was also a street performer. I hope he makes it he was a really nice guy. When we got inside we did some commercial shoots, that was also a lot of fun. Eventuality when we got to the holding room, their were people walking around doing some interviews. A man approached me and gave me the opportunity for a sit down interview. He ask me what my act was and I told him I played a blues harmonica. He then let me play a few licks and perform a short ditty for him. I felt like I was in heaven. I hope he enjoyed it. After that we were called into auditions rooms, five at a time. Singers with singers musicians with musicians and so on. You then got your ninety seconds to shine and that was the end of it. I was the last to perform in our group .I thought every one in our group of five did a great job. When I got done with my audition one of the guys who auditioned in our group spoke out in the room and said something about the type of music I played just makes you feel good. I don’t know his name but I never got to thank him, so I say it now thanks buddy. I wish you myself and everyone else the best of luck. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for all of us and hoping good things for the new year. The whole process took me about seven hours. It was a great day in Philly but I’m still a Steelers fan. Lol
Philly Audition
For this season I auditioned in Philly but last season I auditioned in New York. The New York was was longer, and this year was fun/good. I messed up my words but i hope thats okay haha. I just really hope I made it, I'm very excited(:
I agree..
with the comment above. Everything is exactly that. I got confused because it was my first time appearing on this show. they also separate musicians from the singers and everyone's in numerical
order as you go in for your audition. Singers on one side and musicians on ther other. I agree Jason does need a raise especially when dealing with thousands of people and keeping everything in order. I too, was in the second round of auditions waiting on the incoming phone call/email come january. It's anybody's game at this point. There's alot of talent out there for sure. And all I got to say is God bless everyone in this competition and good luck in January!
Our great experience and what to expect
The first step was to stand in line outside, get our wristbands (blue were for performers and silver were for supporters)and performers also got their numbered stickers. We also had to fill out paperwork. Even if you were just a supporter you had to fill paperwork out. It wasn't as detailed as the performer's paperwork. The questions were very detailed for the performer's paperwork. They really asked some personal questions. We stood in that first line outside from 738am to 938am. (by that time our meter ran out lol) We got lucky with only getting one parking ticket! I thought parking was free on Sundays but initially fed the meter just in case.
At 945am they took us inside the Convention Center. They took groups at a time because there were so many people in line. Rich and I were 318/319 and I saw some stickers that had 819!! We were taken upstairs to this huge room that had two staircases. They positioned us in the room as well as on the stairs and balconies to take commercial photo ops. They kept us in that room for well over an hour! The whole time was spent yelling, clapping, jumping up and down and pretending to yell for I'm sure what will be cool commercials.
We then got brought to the audition/holding rooms where they first wanded us for weapons and checked our bags. We also had to check in our paperwork. Once you got into the holding area, you were stuck in there until after your audition. Rich and I arrived in the holding area around 11:15-11:30am where we stayed until 230pm!! While in the room they had some of the child performers show us their act (if they wanted to), NBC was there for interviews as well as AGT doing their own interviews. That is where we had the opportunity to eat something and rest as well. We also took this opportunity to take some shots of the room. We weren't suppose to but I wasn't aware of that fact until they "scolded" a contestant for taking pictures and they made her delete them in front of them lol. I didn't understand why you weren't allowed to takes photos of posters and other people. It didn't make sense to me but like I said, I didn't know I did something wrong until after the fact. So remember, don't take photos!
Finally at around 230pm Rich and I got called in to the audition rooms along with others who had numbers 300-350. They took 5 people at a time into 3 different audition rooms. They had a room for non musical acts, a room for musical acts and "I think" one room for child ones LOL. You could kind of tell by who was grouped together. I bet it took this long because they must of scoured our paperwork before grouping us. The reason I say this is because my group of 5 people were all singers who had previous experience. There wasn't one person in my group who couldn't sing. My group of 5 had me (47 yr F, soft rock ) , Rich (42 M, blues), Walt (60ish, M, older generation music), Gina (27F opera) and (20ish F rocky blues) . It was a nice mixture of people in my group and all of us did a wonderful job. I just know that Gina will be picked, her opera was amazing. I would of done perfect if I didn't mess up a line of the song. I'm so mad at myself. I simply apologized and kept going and finished pretty strong. They seemed to enjoy my audition but you never know. If you forget a line just keep going, don't give up!!
We finished at 3pm and finally got to go home after being there for 8 hours!! Hopefully Rich and/or I will get a call back in January 2010 so I can continue writing about our experience. I also would like to comment about Jason the staff member who was in charge of moving people and assisting contestants. He worked his butt off! He was really nice and the kind of person who looked happy to help, not the type who ran the other way when it looked like you needed him lol. He deserves a raise AGT producers!
Thank You for a great experience and I hope to see you again next year!
