2009 New York City Auditions

Hi kennedy! I recently tried out in Los Angeles on January 23, and here is some advice!
-Get there as early as you can...(they say to get there at 6, but some people spent the night!)...i got there about 6, and left at about 2:00 P.M
-Make sure you prepared a song that is 90 seconds, if it is over that then they will have to cut you off in your song.
- BRING FOOD!!!! You dont know how long you will be there, so just in case, you might want something to snack on. You also get hungry in line!
- When you are auditioning, just do your best, and have fun, the judges are VERY nice.

Hi Kennedy,

The biggest thing you need to remember about the auditions is to be yourself and to stay calm. The audition process was pretty smoothe. First, you walk into the facility and go through a line where you'll have to submit some paperwork (yeah, not always fun). After that, you wait a little while and then they bring you to a huge area where they'll do some crowd shots for the actual episodes (it's fun but be prepared to stand for long periods). Later you and your friends/family will head to a room where they may do some group shots or interviews with you and those who came with you (I wouldn't know cause I was one of the first to go in). When you get called to go in for your audition it'll be based on what your talent is. You'll be called into the audition room in front of three producers from the show and a camera guy. You get up to 90 seconds to audition (this may vary). It's a pretty easy process, and the best thing to do it be yourself and just have fun...cause it's a lot of fun! :)

I saw the site today and noticed that you had picked some people from the N.Y. auditions and that doesn't seem like good news for me.
Please give me a chance I have been trying to get somewhere for years, I sing play guitar, piano and keys bass and some drums.
I also write songs. I was recently on Community auditions and made it to the finals and did a huge high energy performance
at the M.G.M Grand at Fox woods. I just can't seem to get a break. Please check my video's out again and consider giving me a chance
to be on your show. I really need this. I can do so much more than you know and I think America will vote for me.

Does anyone know if they are doing it by which locations you live in, or just the city you auditioned in? Because I haven't received my call back yet and I auditioned in November.

im auditioning in orlando. i auditioned in miami last year and how the auditions worked was... friday and saturday were auditions. and sunday is when they call you. monday was the live audition with nick cannon. idk if this year they did the same thing . but thats how it was organized last year. sucked. i didnt make it. but if anyone is wondering about the call backs that JUST might be it... and if nott. good luck everyone =) <3 god bless -Lily

We're now halfway into February - has anyone received a callback from the NYC auditions?

Hi, I submitted a video about 5 weeks ago, didn't realize the auditions were coming back to NY so quickly. Has there been any updates, any callbacks?

i was told we wouldn't hear anything about callbacks until march. Anyone hear that?

Anyone hear anything yet? Feb is already a long month....I wonder if you get called back if there is a secrecy issue? Thoughts?

I haven't recieved any confirmation of any sort from AGT either. I am extremely anxious! I check everyday and nothing! Do they send a letter even if you don't make it?

Does anybody know when we're supposed to be called back??

I had a blast during the audition/screening process. I'm really hoping for a live audition for my act. :)

I brought the dvd into the screening room, and they asked for the copy I brought. I also submitted it on Myspace, and uploaded it to this site, although I have no idea if that worked.

The staff was amazing that weekend! I'm really hoping for a callback. :)

they say when you say something and put it out into the universe it comes to be.

all i ask is that i get the callback,it would be nice to go further but i just want the opportunity.

its going to be a long 2 months,good luck to everyone and i know youre all as much of a nervous wreck as i am.

Although I know that only the acts moving on will be notified, I was wondering if they will be updating the site info. Im sure that with kevin Skinner winning last year that it brought guys like me out of the woodwork. I auditioned on oct. 31, 09 and was pleasantly surprized that I didnt have to wait in a long line. The entire thing was very well organized, and when it was over we even had time to hit time square. they said they would notify the acts moving on in Jan. 2010 so I have to asume I did not make it this year. I think it would be realy hard to pick 2 guitar and vocal acts back to back years although it is americas choice at the end. I hope someone gets to read this. please update the site.

hey my name is corinne and i auditioned for americas got talent in october 2009. i don't know what to do because i shut my phone off with my previous number and i don't think i gave them another phone number to contact me on. (seeing as i don't have one) i'm pretty sure i gave them my email though. i don't know how they'll contact me if they don't have my number. i already tried email but that didn't work. can someone give me any advice on what to do? thanks!

We received the email about a week ago pertaining to auditions. Just the same one we got before we auditioned. Has anyone gotten a call back for round two?

this month is flying by, and i guess like the rest of you i'm waiting anxiously to get a call, or not get a call (that is the question) haha. i auditioned on the 31st of october and boyyy was it an absolute pleasure. aside from standing on the stairs for like 2 hours doing takes for the beginning of the show. the one thing i noticed was i was like the only one my age there. not many 18 year old singin girls the day i auditioned. hmm well maybe that's an advantage? haha well good luck to everyone and hopefully i'll see some of yall in vegas! <3 yes, a girl from new york said yall.

Hey Susan-My name is Paula Teebow and I auditioned in NYC on November 1st. Not sure where you are going to be auditioning however it is a very easy process. I arrived at 7am was 132 in line and was auditioning by 12pm. The only advice I can give is be prepared with the song you are singing they give you 90 seconds to sing. Pick the best part of the song that showcases your voice the best. Time it out and practice, practice, practice it. Prepare yourself minutes before you go in front of the judges. Be sure you are singing a cover song they will not let you sing an original of your own. If you do they will ask you to sing something else so don't sing one of your own songs if you are a song writer. I was taken in with four other performers and I was number 4. There were 3 judges in the room and the other 4 performers wait with you and witness your audition. Its actually nice to have the support of the others with you in the room. The process was easy and the judges were very nice. Be sure you have water with you and a snack or two so you have your energy and keep your voice clear with the water. Don't over practice and take a deep breath before you start sining so the nerves don't take over. have control and be yourself and you'll do great! Also you will be doing promo's with the camera crew for about 90 minutes before your audition. Save your voice for the audition don't scream when you are doing the promo's. Its all very exciting and a lot of fun! Best of luck to you!

Did anyone get called back yet?

I auditioned on 10/31/09. My husband and children came along for support. We were all dressed up and it everyone noticed,(smile). It was such a great experience. We arrived after 7am and left before 2pm. I was so nervous when it was my time, it was six of us in the room and I was the 4th to go. I sang my song and one of the judges told me it was very nice. I pray that was a good sign because knowone else was commented on. I pray it is God's Will for me to be called in January. The staff was very polite. Great Job AGT!!!

I was so excited about my audition, I am praying that it is God's Will that I am called for a second audition. The staff was excellent. I met some wonderful people. Everyone please stay encouraged!!!
